Organic Ganoderma Lucidum Spore Powder – Ganoderma Spores are the seeds of the Ganoderma lucidum. The shell of the G.L. spore is as hard as the shell of a coconut, and requires special care to crack open and capture the spores at the right time. There is also a second inner layer and not all companies ‘double crack’ the shells to release the most important part of the spore.

The fruit body of the fungi matures after 5-7 months to release numerous ganoderma spores through minuscule pores present at its base. There are different components of the Ganoderma lucidum mushroom – the spores (seeds ready to pollinate), the Mycelium (early harvest) and the lucidum or the cap part of the mushroom (the mature plant).

Ganoderma spores are expensive in part because harvesting them has to be timed just right – and because how the spores are ‘opened’ can impact the quality.

A Ganoderma lucidum takes about 5-7 months to mature. When it does, it will release spores in a most amazing array of nature. The spores are released from the underside of the mushroom and cover the entire mushroom within a few minutes. Within a few hours the entire micro-environment is covered by spores. It takes almost 2000 pounds of spores to make 2 pounds of spore powder.

Spores are impossible for humans to digest due to their hard coating. They must be “cracked” to open and yet not spill out their precious (and microscopic) contents so that our digestive system can absorb the potent quality of spores. They are highly prized for their healthy properties.
